Stephen Ireland looks set to sign for SPL side Aberdeen, with a report from the Scottish Sun writing that the 32-year-old's representatives have spoken with Dons boss Derek McInnes about joining the Scottish side.
Ireland has been without a club since being released by Stoke at the end of last season. The Cork native had spent the preseason training with Bolton, but failed to agree terms on a deal with the Championship club.
There was also reportedly an offer on the table from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach but it looks like Aberdeen are set to capture the player, whose past two seasons at Stoke have been interrupted by injuries, including a horrific double leg break in 2016.
Aberdeen currently lie seventh in the SPL table, with nine points after six games.
