Man City announced on New year's Eve that Frank Lampard would be extending his stay with the club. He had joined them just before the start of the Premier League season what was called at the time a "loan" move from New York City FC.
In between there has been a lot of confusion about whether or not Lampard had a deal in place with the MLS club or not.
In a statement released through his agent Steve Kutner, Lampard has attempted to clarify the situation.
The statement says that "a lot of lies and nonsense" have been written about his move to NYCFC and that last summer he signed a two-year commitment to play for them starting on January 1st 2015.
He also says that he will begin playing for them at the conclusion of the current Premier League season.
