You may remember, a few months ago, we ran a story entitled 'Frank Lampard Is Well And Truly Taking The Piss In America, And Fans Aren't Happy'.
It centred on the fact that Lampard took off to do some Euro 2016 punditry with the BBC in the middle of New York City's season, having been named by USA Today's ForTheWin.com as the worst signing in MLS history.
Well, evidently spurred on by the article on this site, Lampard has knuckled down to business in Major League Soccer, and is turning in the kind of deft yet influential performances one would expect of an author of such considerable talent.
Against Colorado Ra Kevin Doyle's Colorado Rapids, Lampard scored a hat-trick, the first in NYC's history:
Lampard has been scoring goals with extreme prejudice of late, with eight goals in 11 games. Only David Villa has scored more often for New York, and despite a couple of humiliating defeats in derbies to New York Red Bulls, the club are bang in contention for the playoffs.
They sit top of the Eastern Conference, and will likely be seeded in the playoffs.
