A dejected Frank Lampard admitted that his side are in a relegation battle after Everton's late 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves.
A 95th minute goal from Rayan Ait Nouri saw a frustrated Goodison Park crowd voice their frustrations at Frank Lampard, who is on huge pressure after today's defeat.
This loss means Everton are now just a point above Wolves outside the relegation zone. Having escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, Frank Lampard would have wanted to avoid such tense scenes this time around.
However, after today's loss, the former Chelsea boss admitted his side are now in a relegation battle.
I played for nearly 20 years and I know how it can affect then. Some performances like Bournemouth I could understand (the boos) but I thought the lads played well today and I would love the crowd to stick with them at that point.
It was going to be baby steps this season but today we deserved to win. It is a concern not being clinical. The attacking part of the pitch where we want to add in the squad
We are in one (relegation scrap), and that's what it is. That's the Premier League. We've got to fight and be together, and that's just the reality of where we are at."
Frank Lampard Struggles continue
Today was a game that unfortunately summed up Everton's season. After a promising start with Yerry Mina opening the scoring after seven minutes, Frank Lampard thought it must have been their day.
However, heads dropped once Daniel Podence equalised and Everton turned to a more conservative approach.
Despite Everton not playing badly, this led to fans making their frustrations heard as they were still quite defensive in a must win game, against another struggling side in Wolves.
