Chelsea's horrendous season continued this evening with a 4-1 loss away to Man United, giving Frank Lampard's side three defeats in their last five matches, keeping them in 12th place in the Premier League.
After conceding four and spending a good chunk of the game wasting promising goals scoring opportunities, Chelsea did manage a consolation goal from Joao Felix in the 89th minute.
In his post match interview, Lampard was asked what he had learned from this season, and his answer conveyed just how utterly hopeless the situation is at Chelsea and how it has been over the past year.
I don't know. If you ask me what I've learnt in this short period, not so much in terms of coaching because if you haven't got the basics, those things aren't that important. If that's not there then from a coaching point of view there are hard things.
A lot of the plus points you gain from what the team are fighting for and how they find that extra bit.
I love working for this club and that's not changed from the moment I've been here.

Chelsea created a host of good looks in front of goal in the first-half, but, as has been the case all season, were incredibly wasteful when the situations arose, and Lampard went as far as to claim that they were the better side in the first 40 despite being down 2-0.
"The clinical nature in front of goal," said Lampard.
"We were the better football team in the first half - in possession, chances we matched them at least. To be 2-0 down is probably a sign of where we're at. Second half, probably a sign of where we're at.
"Our goal count for the season shows it's a problem we don't score goals enough. We gave them some threats in the first half but not many in the second half. Some of the defending in the second half showed why we play a back five at times."
