Frame by Frame: Seamus Coleman's Tackle On Diego Costa

Seamus Coleman has been developing a reputation as one of the hardest tacklers in England this season.  Having put a cruncher in on Raheem Sterling not so long ago, the Donegal man put an even harder challenge in on the unlikeable Costa this evening at Stamford Bridge.

The Irish international had a bit of bother with a certain Diego Costa when Everton met Chelsea back in 2014 but this evening it was Coleman who was dishing out the punishment. We've broken it down frame by frame.

It starts off as an innocuous 50/50 challenge.

In comes Costa, but Coleman's already made his mind up and leaves the ground.

The studs come up, and the foot goes through.

Somehow, Coleman escaped even a free kick for this incident, perhaps because referee Bobby Madeley was blinded by a couple of players.

Ah. Perhaps not. The challenge would draw blood from the Spanish striker. Costa would get the last laugh though. He netted just before half time as Chelsea tore the Everton rearguard to shreds in the first 45.

Twitter was not impressed.

The sides meet again at the end of April in Goodison Park.
