Things are looking up. After Riyad Mahrez's performance gave us a far too respectable 25 points in gameweek one, hopes were high that the 'Shite Hawks XI' could have a stinker this week.
For those of you unfamiliar with our challenge, we are attempting to get the lowest possible score using all of our £100m budget. There are some other rules, which are all explained here.
Wary of more Mahrez magic, we decided to get him out of the team for gameweek 2. While our options were limited in terms of transfers, as we can only change one player each week, we ultimately decided to plump for Lucas Moura.
We reckoned that City would beat Spurs, and Moura wouldn't start. Here's what we ended up with:
13 point, not bad. Of course, the Moura transfer would end up robbing us of the chance of getting into single digits. He came on to score in that game, while Mahrez got just one point. Richarlison got three points, Emerson got two, while Lo Celso and Jesus each got one.
38 points after two weeks is pretty good, but our place on the global standings is a bit distorted. A load of players joined on gameweek 2 and got shite scores, but we have managed to go down in the global standings.
Out of 5,441,466 players who were in it from the start, we rank 5,410,557. That puts us in the bottom 0.5% of players, which is decent going. We want to go even lower.
We decided to make one change this week, as we felt Moura will probably start against Newcastle. We got our boy Riyad Mahrez back in, a decision that will no doubt blow up in our face.
We reckon that he was so bad against Spurs that he surely can't start against Bournemouth.
Here's hoping for single figures to keep our dreams alive.
