While a Rangers player, Nacho Novo fully embraced the culture of the club and the Old Firm rivalry itself. He did a grade-A job of endearing himself to the Rangers supporters.
His approach contrasts violently with the likes of Craig Burley, who was brutally blunt about his Celtic sojourn as being a straightforward career move. Ahead of last year's SFA Cup Old Firm tie, he said he wouldn't even watch the match and that he wasn't bothered about turning up at functions in a pristine club blazer.
Novo, another ex-Old Firm player, has a rather different attitude, perhaps illustrated by the fact that a couple of weeks ago, he turned up in Belfast to celebrate the Glorious Twelfth, attending parades and Eleventh Night bonfires.
It is possible he might have done the same had he not been a Rangers player at one time. He may been interested in the Twelfth as a cultural spectacle and nothing else.

When he talks in English, he even does so with a hint of a Scottish accent now.
On top of that, the news comes to us that Novo is set to make his stay in Belfast rather more permanent by signing for Glentoran in the Irish League. The Sun reports that he met with Glentoran manager and former Republic of Ireland defender Alan Kernaghan today.
Novo is 37 and has played the past two years for NASL team the Carolina Railhawks, meaning he is currently not even operating in the top tier of American football.
