Former Liverpool coach and ex-Bolton manager Sammy Lee is one of nine people summonsed to appear in court over series of perjury and fraud allegations next month.
The others include Bolton chairman Phil Gartside and former player Gavin McCann. The case has been reported upon by the Guardian's Daniel Taylor.
The case relates partly to Bolton's signing of McCann from Aston Villa in the summer of 2007. Football agent Tony McGill claimed he was cut out of the deal at the last minute. Bolton drafted in another agency (SEM) at the eleventh hour and McGill lost £300,000 as a result. He lost his case at Manchester civil justice centre last year. This was because he did not have a binding contract with McCann and the judge deemed McGill 'basically credible.'
McGill is now bringing a private prosecution and 11 individuals have been summonsed to appear in Newcastle magistrates court next month.
