The League of Ireland's top scorer in the 2014 season found the going tough in League Two. Pat Hoban, whose goals propelled Dundalk to their first League title in nineteen years in 2014, left for Oxford United at the end of that season.
He could only muster six goals in 53 appearances for the club. He was farmed out on loan to Stevenage in January but has made little dent in their starting line-up, featuring only once in the League since then.
He will now step down a tier to non-League team Grimsby Town, a team who once hit the dizzy heights of Division One before financial catastrophe sent them torpedoing down the divisions.
Hoban is not the only Irish striker at the club. Padraig Amond, formerly of Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers and Pacos de Ferreira in the Portuguese League, has been banging in the goals for the club in the past year.
He spoke to Team 33 about his experiences in Portugal.
