Shelbourne secured their place in the next round of the FAI Cup last night, although they were made to work for their place in the quarter-finals during their penalty shootout victory over Galway United.
The game would finish 0-0 after normal time, although there would prove to be a couple of goals during the afters. Aiden O'Brien was the man to score for the Dublin club, with the former Republic of Ireland striker finding the back of the net in the 94th minute.

The signing of Aiden O'Brien was only completed earlier this week, with the arrival of the 30-year old seen as a major coup for Shelbourne. He has had a long career in the EFL, also earning five Ireland caps along the way.
Speaking after last night's match, Shels assistant manager Joey O'Brien summed up what their new marquee signing had already brought to the group.
From a budget point of view, our budget is nowhere near some other clubs, that’s a credit to the people and signings and the way they’ve kept it. I guess that allows you to bring a player of that quality like Aiden...
People watching the match would have seen he’s a quality player and playing out there on the pitch shows that quality. But it won’t be a one-man show either, there is a hell of a long way to go.
You look at him, ask people about him, listen to people you trust and they were all so positive about him as a person. As a player, we know him a lot, but a lot of the responses as a person were he’s such a great person, he’ll be unbelievable for the group and here he’s only been in a short time but there is a real humility about him.
With Shelbourne still in the mix for a league and cup double, they will be hoping that O'Brien can provide the goals that could get them over the line on both fronts over the coming months.
He certainly made an ideal start last night, with a Dublin derby away at Bohemians the next task at hand on Friday night.
