Europol claim that profit was €8 million euro was made from football match fixing and that 380 games are suspected.  These include 2 Champions League games (including 1 played in England in "the last 3 or 4 years"), 2 World Cup qualifiers in Africa and 1 in Central America.

The syndicate was based in Singapore but had operations in 15 countries. Over 400 players, referees and officials are believed to be involved. Giving the scale of the operation, it's somewhat surprising to hear that the highest individual bribe was for €140,000.

The people involved in recent drugs revelations will be delighted as we can expect this story to run and run as more details come out.
