One of those modern football stories that will make you shake your head has popped up courtesy of the BBC World Service Football Podcast.
Conor McNamara was chatting to football agent Jon Smith on the WS World Football podcast and asked him to share a story from his upcoming book 'The Deal' which will contain many similar stories we're sure.
This one is particularly tragic as Smith reveals that England players were kindly asked to consider celebrating any goals they score in front of the advertising boards to keep the sponsors happy.
For friendlies and less important fixtures, agents would be given time to talk to the players as a sort of pre-match meeting, and they used this opportunity to remind the players to keep the sponsors happy.

That, ladies and gentleman is the most 'modern football' story we've come across. The game's gone.
The joke that relying on England to score goals being a major stumbling block has been made many a time on Twitter already, but really it's no surprise that this sort of thing has been seeping into football for a long time.
Lest we forget that Niklas Bendtner pulled down his shorts to reveal a pair of Paddy Power underpants at Euro 2012.
Thanks to Conor McNamara for the snippet, you can listen to the WS Football Show in full over on BBC World Service.
