Remember Walter De Gregorio, FIFA's Director of Communications? He was the man who was forced to face the world's media when the FIFA corruption scandal first broke a couple of weeks ago?
He sat there with millions watching and tried his best to tell the world everything was grand and that the FBI arresting some of their top men was actually a good thing. We weren't buying it.
You get the sense he wasn't either. De Gregorio has 'relinquished his office', many are saying sacked, amid the ongoing scandal and he has done so in a rather entertaining way. Before pulling the plug, he went on Swiss TV and told a lovely little joke.
Hearing DeGregorio fired after making joke on a Swiss TV.
Q: FIFA president, gen sec + comms dir are in a car. Who's driving?
A: The police— Martyn Ziegler (@martynziegler) June 11, 2015
You'd be forgiven for thinking that was a joke about a joke but no, he really did say it and here's the proof. Talk about going out in a blaze of slightly comical glory.
