When EA Sports FIFA 16 is released in the Autumn, it will be 20 years since the launch of FIFA 96, the first FIFA game on the Sony Playstation, and a game still fondly remembered to this day.
While it didn't have the Indoor Mode that FIFA 97 did, and it didn't have the sheer amazingness that FIFA 98 had, FIFA 96 was still a very important game for EA Sports.
20 years on, FIFA fans are still complaining about some basic aspects of the game, so we took a trip back to the SNES and the PS1 and see what would be welcomed in the upcoming title which will no doubt sell incredibly well regardless.
1. Fantasy Exhibition Mode
You're playing your mate on the same console, you've done international v international, 4 star random v 4 star random, and every other thing you can think of to pick interesting teams, but still you can't think of a fun match to play. How many times have you been there?
FIFA used to have a mode where two players could have a fantasy draft and pick their dream teams. How much fun would that be today? Why is it never considered as a fun mode for offline play?
2. Actually Competent Goalkeepers
The goalkeepers were "re-invented" for FIFA 15 as one of the main points of focus for the development team, and they are considered to be worse than they have ever been. Back in FIFA 96 there was no problems about the keepers, but now they can be game breaking.
