Alessio Cerci has agreed to terms with AC Milan which clears the way for Fernando Torres to return home to Madrid.

The story broke last week that AC Milan and Atletico Madrid were attempting to finalise a deal that would see the former Chelsea and Liverpool striker return to his boy-hood club (which he captained until he left for Anfield in the summer of 2007), and also see a return to Serie A for Italian international Alessio Cerci, who has failed to make an impact at Atletico having made the switch from Torino on September 1st of this year.

After news broke of the story last week, the latest word coming out of Cerci's camp was that the attacking midfielder was holding out for a move to Inter, and had no interest in joining AC, but reports have emerged today that Cerci has accepted Milan's terms and the deal will go ahead in January. ESPN journalist Sid Lowe has also suggested that the deal is done:

Should the deal go through as expected, Torres could be set to make his Atleti return against arch rivals Real Madrid on January 7th, and that is something we really want to see.
