It's been a while since we've heard of Fernando Torres. Some Liverpool fans still pine for a goalscoring striker like him.
Just so you know, he's still got it.
Torres had been having a quiet enough season for Atletico Madrid. He had only found the net twice before last week's league game against Leganes. A brace in that game seems to have kick-started his season, though.
Atleti were one down early on against Celta Vigo. Gustavo Cabral had given the away side a lead after five minutes. Five minutes later, Torres did this.
Torres Goal vs Celta
One touch off the ground, catching it on the way back up and lobbing the keeper into the top corner. Magnificient.
It's already been likened to Theirry Henry's famous volley against Manchester United and it's hard to argue against that comparison.
The striker's current contract is up in July of this year and there were rumours that he might leave the Calderon. Diego Simeone's side are currently under a transfer ban from FIFA for irregularities, so they won't be able to bring in a replacement.
After a goal like that, Atleti should be doing everything to hold onto him. He's not quite the 50 million pound man that Chelsea inherited, but damn it, he'll still grab goals!
