Footballers on Twitter is a facet of modern sporting entertainment that could never have been foreseen 10 or 20 years ago. Back then when you read a footballers thoughts, it was because a journalist had gone to the trouble of squeezing some kind of quote out of them.
Not anymore. Now they're just like us normal folk, spouting varying degrees of nonsense on Twitter for (what seems like) our enjoyment. The footballing tweeters come in all shapes and sizes. You have the surprisingly intelligent, the unsurprisingly idiotic and the rare, but wonderful, public service announcers.
