I suppose when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense but I was still taken aback on hearing that Niall Quinn has emerged as the favourite to present Sky's GAA coverage.
The Irish Examiner report today that he is 'seen by the satellite broadcaster as an obvious choice for main presenter given his profile and strong GAA background.'
Quinn played minor hurling for Dublin before moving across the water to take up a career in soccer. After he returned home to Ireland he played Gaelic football in Kildare and managed Eadestown's Junior Bs.
The Examiner say that Sky will be announced their team within the next two weeks so we'll be finding out soon if Quinn is part of it. They'll broadcast their first match on 7 June.
