In what was reminiscent of a scene from the schoolyard Sheffield United 'keeper Jamal Blackman and Brentford striker Ryan Woods were both sent off after the latter attempted to get the ball off of the keeper in the aftermath of Brentford's equaliser.
Jamal went to pick the ball out of the net on 69 minutes after Chris Mepham had equalised. Ryan Woods approached Blackman in order to get the ball and resume play as quickly as possible, but Blackman was in no mood to humour Woods and after some handbags ensued frustration got the better of Woods who appeared to grab the Sheffield keeper around the neck.
Blackman then retorted pushing Woods away by the neck. The referee eventually intervened showing a red to both Blackman and Woods in what was a needlessly childish incident.
Take a look:
The game would go on to finish honours even at Griffin Park and the result leaves Sheffield six points ahead of Brentford in 9th but the result will have not done a great deal for either's promotion hopes with the Championship entering the final stretch of games.
