We'll file this one up there between unlikely to happen and Jordan Henderson going to Barcelona but Liverpool and Chelsea are both being linked with a move for Man United loanee Radamel Falcao this morning.
The Colombian hasn't exactly had the best of times in England since moving from Monaco in the summer and the Sun are reporting that two of United's main rivals are ready to take a punt on the former Atletico hitman in the hope that he can recapture some of the form that made him such a feared striker during his time in Portugal and Spain.
It's being reported that Monaco sources have confirmed that Liverpool have made contact in the hope of securing Falcao next season on a similar deal to the one that their great rivals pulled off at the end of the summer transfer window.
That deal was worth somewhere in the region of £6 million for the year with the option to make the deal permanent for somewhere in the region of £40-60 million depending on who you ask. And one thing's for certain, United won't be splashing that cash in the summer given Falcao's less than stellar record so far.
With Brendan Rodgers keen to ship out Mario Balotelli in the summer, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could take a punt on Falcao if the price is right. However, that doesn't take into account that his wages would be much more than Liverpool would be willing to spend. That, along with the Liverpool owner's policy of buying young in the hope of a resale value pretty much puts paid to any hope of seeing Falcao in Liverpool red next season.
Chelsea meanwhile are being linked with Falcao as his agent, Jorge Mendes, is well known to have a close relationship with Jose Mourinho. The fact that Didier Drogba will more than likely free up a spot on the Chelsea bench is also somewhat fortuitous.
