Mick McCarthy was asked about the vacant Ireland manager's job at an Ipswich Town press conference today. The former Ireland manager and captain was pretty forthright in saying that he was not surprised he had been linked with the role but that Martin O'Neill was a "shoo-in" to replace Trap.

I’m not surprised because I did a good job last time. But Martin O’Neill is getting the job as far as I’m aware. That’s totally nailed on, he’s a shoo-in for it.
Further pressed on what his response would be if he was offered the position McCarthy said:
What would I do? I haven’t got a bleeding clue.
If possible the FAI should just hire Mick to do the press conferences, O'Neill can manage the team but he could never match McCarthy for a quote.
