The JobBridge scheme has been divisive to say the least since it was introduced in 2011. It has had its critics and it has had it's advocates. Since the economy has begun to turn, many would say that the scheme is beginning to show its benefits. However, there's no doubting there's a PR consideration for any organisation that wishes to get involved in the scheme.
The FAI has advertised on JobBridge in the past, however, their latest listing has drawn some interest in light of other events surrounding the Association in recent weeks.
The job is for a kitroom assistant and, it must be said, it would be a very good opportunity for whomever is selected. According to the listing, two of the interns main responsibilities include:
- To work as part of the International Football Operations team to assist with the day to day operation of the kit & equipment rooms
- To assist and support the Kit Coordinator in the planning and organisation of kit & equipment for all international teams based on the international fixture list in line with kit regulations
As we said, this will be a good opportunity for someone. However, the recent criticism of the FAI and John Delaney, does make this a rather timely (for the rest of us) announcement. Delaney's much discussed salary and that €5 million payment from FIFA have, unsurprisingly, been referenced quite a bit.
John Delaney is on 300k plus a year and the FAI are recruiting a kitman through Jobbridge http://t.co/kQGiqCY2Ks

The FAI are advertising for a new kit man on JobBridge. "We just don't have the money for a full time salary" said John Delaney (€360k p.a.)
