The Evan Ferguson was cast into overdrive earlier this week, when reports revealed that the Brighton striker would be seeking a move away from the club in January - a move Brighton would be amenable to.

While the host of reports claimed that several Premier League clubs were interested in acquiring Ferguson's services, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has refuted the claims, telling the 2o-year-old to 'accept your role, don't complain'.

The news which broke last weekend claimed that Evan Ferguson who has only appeared for Brighton eight times this season, was seeking a move away from the Amex Stadium in South England, with the hope of gaining more regular game-time elsewhere.

Ferguson's news was quickly followed up by reported interest from Premier League sides Leicester City, Fulham and Everton. Meanwhile, fans from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United were also particularly vocal in urging their club to sign the Irishman.

Hurzler gives blunt assessment of Evan Ferguson's Loan prospect

While the high cost associated with signing Evan Ferguson left a January loan move as the most feasible option for the 20-year-old, Fabian Hurzler has refuted the idea that Ferguson could leave in January.

The Brighton boss was speaking to reporters when he revealed that he had already spoke to Evan Ferguson about the lack of game time he has received.

I don't know from where this information comes, because I said to Evan that I'm happy that he's here in the team, I'm happy how he's training, in what shape he's in physically and mentally.

Of course he's a young player and needs game time but the best example is with Igor. No one expected Igor to play that many games, but Igor always made himself sure that he's ready for the games, that when he got the chance, he uses it. He always trained hard and he never complained, he accepted his role and then when he got the chance he was there.

That's the same thing I demand from the other players, so accept your role, don't complain. You can be disappointed if you're not playing, I was also disappointed when I didn't play as a player..it should be like this.

But accept your role and make sure that you bring yourself in a mood and shape that when you get the chance you are ready.

That's exactly what I demand from Evan and that's what I said to him, I never said anything about a loan or something like this, so honestly I can't comment..we are happy that Evan is here and I'm sure he can help us next week.

Judging by Hurzler's comments, a move away from the AMEX might not be as feasible as once envisaged for Bettystown native Evan Ferguson.

Despite being back to full fitness, Ferguson's return to game time has been made all the more difficult by Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro's superb form in the Brighton attack.

As Ferguson is unlikely to unseat either of the current starting forwards, whether he and Fabian Hurzeler will be able to see eye-to-eye on a lack of game time is very much so yet to be seen.
