While the news has not yet been officially confirmed, it seems all but certain that Arne Slot will be appointed as the next manager of Liverpool.

The Dutchman has emerged as the club's preferred choice to succeed Jurgen Klopp this summer, who announced back in January that he would depart at the end of the season. That led to an exhaustive process in order to find his replacement, something that ultimately led the club to the current Feyenoord boss.

Slot has already spoken publicly about the chances of him moving to Anfield, saying earlier today that he would open up further on the role 'when it's official'.

The deal may be all but done, but some are not impressed with way Slot has conducted himself in recent days.

Managing a club like Liverpool requires a certain sort of personality, with Arne Slot clearly having the type of self confidence that is often needed to thrive in such a role.

In saying that, his comments in recent times have also led to some questions about his mindset. The 45-year old has spoken openly about his ambition to move to Anfield, even going as far as bragging about the amount of money that Feyenoord would make by allowing him to leave the club.

Speaking to DAZN, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock said that those particular comments 'lacked class'.

From what I’ve seen so far of him from his interviews, it feels like he’s got that big personality.

The big thing is, is that you’re following one of the biggest personalities in football, but you’ve got to still be your own person – and I think he is.

If I’m being completely honest, I wasn’t so sure about his interview talking about the money that Feyenoord are receiving for him and how great it is for Dutch football.

I just thought it lacked a little bit of class. I just thought you don’t need to say that you’re still in a job at Feyenoord. You’ve still got games to play. Jurgen Klopp’s still the manager at Liverpool.

I think it was just one of them where you almost bat it away and say, listen, there might be things happening behind the scenes, but that’s not for me to talk about. That’s for the two clubs to sort out.

However, if you’re getting a Liverpool job and you’ve only been a manager for, I think it’s seven and a half years I’d be very excited as well.

The coach had a similar public courting of Feyenoord prior to his appointment at that club, something that led to his sacking at AZ Alkmaar.

While these comments from Arne Slot may have been a bit misguided, you get the sense that they will be quickly forgotten once he moves into his new role.

He is a name that not all that many Liverpool fans would have been familiar with, meaning there will be a huge amount of intrigue around him once he arrives in the Premier League.

With plenty of changes at various levels of the club, it is certainly the beginning of a new era at Liverpool. Whether it turns out to be a successful one or not very much remains to be seen.
