Cork's Gearoid Morrissey made his debut in English football tonight. And he chose some stage to take his opening bow.
The Cambridge United midfielder replaced the venerable old man Luke Chadwick midway through the second half at Old Trafford this evening.
The 23 year old left Cork for Blackburn as a teenager but, stricken with homesickness, he returned home to Cork two years later, becoming an influential figure as Cork rose from the First Division back in 2010 through to challenging for the Premier Division title last year.
It turns out he's not the first Cork City player to make his English football debut at Old Trafford.
Just like Damien Delaney did in 2001, @Gearoid_M leaves @CorkCityFC & makes his debut in England at Old Trafford v @ManUtd #CCFC84
