Few transfer policies have been as scattergun as Everton's of late, with their enormous splurge last summer lumbering them with three No.10s, all as slow as each other. Wayne Rooney did okay before leaving for DC United, while Gylfi Sigurdsson endured an injury-hampered season. Davy Klaassen, meanwhile, barely played and was publicly chided by Sam Allardyce for refusing to leave in January.
Klaassen has now made his escape, and has today completed a £13.5 million transfer to Werder Bremen. Given that Everton spent almost £25 million on Klaassen a year ago, that's quite a hit.
Elsewhere, having shelled out £40 million on Richarlison - a player who hasn't scored since November - the club are looking to Barcelona: the club have been linked with a double-swoop for defenders Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina, the latter who you may remember from his prolific World Cup.
To Manchester United. Jose Mourinho has said that he wants another two signings between now and the deadline on August 9th, and he has remains as entranced by Ivan Perisic as ever. Mourinho tried to sign him last season, and exclaimed on RT after Perisic steered Croatia past England that he "doesn't know why he didn't come to Manchester when I wanted him".
Mourinho is reportedly keen to try and sign the Inter Milan winger again this summer, and if it happens, it might finally lead to the liberation of Anthony Martial.
United are also said to have interest in Croatia's Ante Rebic, who is currently at Eintracht Frankfurt. You may remember Rebic for his sensational World Cup volley passed the limp, flailing and useless Willy.
Who, by the way, is still at Chelsea and should be pretty secure in his position as No.2, given that Rob Green has just arrived as third choice.
Elsewhere Leonardo Bonucci might be returning to Juventus and Roma are planning to turn to Emil Forsberg as a replacement for Malcolm. The Brazilian spent the last couple of weeks in a transfer wrangle between Everton, Roma and Barcelona, quite literally becoming a Malcolm in the Middle. (How do you still work here? -Ed).
Anyway, Barca swooped in late to thieve Malcolm from Roma's clutches (there were Roma fans at the airport to greet him!) and they are now focusing their attention on Forsberg. They are said to face competition from, er, Barcelona.
