Not content with beating Everton 4-0, Liverpool decided to do the neighbourly thing and take the piss. With Everton down to the men following a god-awful challenge on Divock Origi by Funes-Mori, Liverpool doubled their lead to 4-0 and then set about passing the ball among themselves, each drawing a gloating cheer from the Kop. Funes-Mori went off brandishing his crest, which we can agree is an utterly moronic thing to do:
Bewildered that Funes Mori thinks a reasonable response to that challenge is to walk off holding the Everton crest on his shirt.

As Jurgen Klopp gurned along to the joy of the whole thing on the touchline, Roberto Martinez stood still, arms folded with an utterly blank look as if he was trying to focus on something nebulous in the distance to block out his side's miserable performance. While Everton's biggest game of the week is against Manchester United on Saturday, a Merseyside Derby is always important, and a stage ill-befitting a gutless and meek surrender.
Everton had three shots with none of them on target; Liverpool had 43. FORTY-THREE.
That is exactly what Martinez served up, and Everton fans along with commentators reacted with a mixture of fury and disbelief:
Everton's strongest squad since they last won at Anfield have delivered their most gutless performance in derby history. Martinez root cause

What an embarrassment watching Everton.

Everton deserve better. This performance comes from the tone set by the manager. A Derby means a scrap.

I know we all have a laugh and joke about football but this is seriously painful. Genuinely feel so upset.

Roberto Martinez was almost appointed as Kenny Dalglish's successor at Anfield before Brendan Rodgers got the job, and Liverpool supporters were pretty glad that he ended up at Goodison:

The ultimate insult for Martinez now as "Bobby Martinez" is sung by the Kop. Harks back to "10 more years" for Moyes. #LFC

Fella in the Paddock just said: "I feel cheated. £45 to watch a training session." #LFC

Slightly annoyed it wasn't double figures. We'll never get a better chance to put ten past them again.
— Chris Maguire (@chrismaguire73) April 20, 2016
Everton fans were not in such a mood:
David Moyes was overhead in the Sky Sports studio, and such a surrender by Martinez' side had Everton fans pining for the days of Moyes, a man who never won a Merseyside Derby at Anfield:
The 'Moyes for Celtic' campaign may be extremely short-lived. Martinez surely can't survive this bleaching?
— John McGarry (@johnmcg442) April 20, 2016
Davie Moyes back to Everton? Neil Lennon back to Celtic? Standby for weeks of this stuff...
— Tom English (@TEnglishSport) April 20, 2016
For Liverpool, the main talking points were the continued good form of James Milner, worry over the injury to Divock Origi and Jurgen Klopp enjoying the experience as much as any supporter in Red:

Who needs Mesut Ozil when you have James Milner 😏

Poor Divock Origi. Form of his life, than stretchered off after a reckless challenge. No Euros for him? #LFc

Jurgen Klopp is class, just sitting there laughing 😂

A facile victory for Liverpool, but an utter humiliation for Everton. Famed euphemism-manufacturer Roberto Martinez will do extremely well to put a positive spin on that. Everton were lucky to get nil.
