There is a lot to dislike about BT Sport, with their total lack of insight to City/Spurs on Saturday night a particular low. Rather than analyse a fascinating game, Jake Humphrey decided to goad Steven Gerrard about the lowest moment of his professional career.
As bad as their Premier League coverage is, however, their European Football work is superb, with the jewel in the crown the European Football Show. Hosted by James Richardson, accompanied by journalists James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Rafael Honigstein, the show brings the best action from Europe.
Bringing so many goals from such high-quality matches is a pretty sure-fire way of producing good television, but the European Football Show is instructive in how best to fill the time around the action.
One such example is the 90-second transfer round-up they had on last night's show. In a ninety-second slot, the three writers gave their informed opinions as to whether various transfer rumours would materialise.
It is an engaging, informed and pithy way of cutting through the suffocating constancy of transfer bullshit. Enjoy it below:
Great stuff, and if you're a Manchester United fan, it is particularly encouraging.
