The European Football Show has been a firm favourite of ours since it first aired on BT Sport. The broadcaster have done a lot of bad things since they arrived on the scene - our old friend, Fletch and Sav - but the Sunday night show fronted by James Richardson was among the bet football shows on any channel.
For those unaware, Richardson was joined by journalists James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, and Rafa Honigstein to review the action and chat through the biggest storylines across the big European leagues. (Aside from La Liga, to which Sky own the rights).
It was informed, informative and hilarious: one of the few football shows that assumes the viewer has a reasonable level of intelligence.
Among the many highlights was this: Richardson rapping the intro.
Sadly, it was announced a couple of weeks ago that the show would not be returning next season, with the viewership figures apparently not up to scratch.
The final live broadcast went out last Sunday, with the final show a recorded season review scheduled to go out at 8pm on Thursday, on BT Sport 1.
Hordes of loyal fans dutifully tuned in....and realised it wasn't on. Instead, BT were showing some sailing action from the America's Cup.
Fair to say very few were impressed...
All becomes clear on why @btsport is cancelling #BTEFS… that ship has sailed. @acjimbo @JamesHorncastle @LaurensJulien @honigstein pic.twitter.com/nlLZz2nuzD

Perhaps the viewing figures for #BTEFS would be higher if they actually showed it instead of sailing?

#BTEFS viewing figures through the roof as we all tune in for the best show on BT sport to be shown sailing !!!!

So BT want to dumb down by cancelling #BTEFS and they're showing sailing 🤔

Got no problem with sailing but rather lame to bump #btefs especially there are a lot including me who wanted to watch https://t.co/MEGAuhwUST

Outrageous scheduling, thought it was a disgrace cancelling the show but this is taking the piss even more #btefs @btsport @btsportfootball

Thankfully, the show did eventually kick-off about 40 minutes later than scheduled.
We hope that fans did not stray too far from the TV, and that the messing about with the schedule doesn't affect those who Sky-plussed it.
