While Troy Parrott still has plenty of time to fulfil the potential he showed earlier in his career, it is fair to say that hasn't yet hit the heights that many expected from him when he first emerged in the Ireland youth setup.

Viewed by many as the most talented prospect to emerge from this country in a number of years, the forward has often struggled to adapt to the demands of senior football. He has yet to make a breakthrough at Spurs, while loans spells at the likes of Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Dons, and Preston North End have produced largely mixed results.

Parrott made a decent start to life on loan at Preston last season, although his campaign was derailed by injury. While he is still only 21-years old, there is a sense that the upcoming campaign will be a huge one in his development as a player.

However, with the club season now underway, there have been few indications as to where he will be playing his football in the months ahead.

Game time will be difficult to come by at Spurs, while a loan move elsewhere has yet to materialise.

Troy Parrott drawing European loan interest

While the Irishman has yet to make a move during the current transfer window, it seems that there are no shortage of interest suitors.

Football Insider are reporting that clubs from numerous leagues on the continent are keen to sign Troy Parrott on loan for the upcoming season.

They claim that two Dutch teams, a La Liga club, and a Bundesliga team have all registered their interest in the player, although the clubs in question have not been named.

A move to the continent could suit all parties. Troy Parrott has struggled in the EFL on occasion, and while his physicality has improved in recent seasons, you get the sense that a move to Europe could benefit the technical side of his game.

It would also give him his first real exposure to top flight football, with his only other loan spells coming in the second and third tier of English football.

The Dubliner remains a part of Stephen Kenny's Ireland squad, although he has yet to nail down a spot in the starting XI after the emergence of the likes of Evan Ferguson and Chiedozie Ogbene over the last couple of years.

He will be hoping that his next loan move can help kickstart his career at both club and international level.
