The Europa League has thrown up a dangerously interesting fixture - Cork City have drawn Linfield.
Shamrock Rovers drew Finnish side RoPS Rovaniemi while St. Pat's will fave Luxembourg outsiders Jeunesse Esch.
The last time teams from either side of the border clashed in European competition was in the 2005 Champions League when Shelbourne beat Glentoran home and away (6-2 agg).
Prior to that Linfield have met Republic of Ireland clubs twice in the European Cup. They lost to Dundalk in 1979 (3-1 agg.) and beat Shamrock Rovers on away goals in 1984 (1-1).
Waterford United beat Glentoran in the 1970 European Cup (4-1). (Stats courtesy of John Dodge).
The Cork-Linfield class will mark the first time an FAI and an IFA club will have met in Europe's secondary competition.
The pair met in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final in 2007, with Linfield winning 1-0. Though the competition would eventually be dominated by FAI sides (a factor which contributed to its demise) Linfield won the inaugural Setanta Cup in 2005. Cork City claimed the trophy three years later.
Shamrock Rovers drew Finnish side RoPS Rovaniemi. They finished 2nd in the Finnish Premier League last year and their stadium has a capacity of 4.000.
St. Pat's will face Luxembourg outfit Jeunesse Esch, in a match they will be expected to win.
