It's not uncommon for hotels to take advantage of big sporting events to adjust their prices and maximise profits - but some places are taking the piss.
A study from hotel comparison website Trivago has found that Irish fans are going to be among the worst hit in June in terms of hotel prices.
Euro 2016 Hotel Prices
Lille is the French city with the biggest price increase compared to 2015, with all five games in the city costing at least 275% more this year than the previous year. Ireland's game with Italy is the worst of all of the games - with hotels in the northern French city rising by 427% up to €559, when they were €106 for the same day in 2015.
The tournament means that all games will be affected with the hotel increase, with the smallest hikes coming in Paris. Portugal v Austria is the least affected - but that is still an 15% increase (an additional €35). Ireland do have a game in Paris - facing Sweden in their first game at St. Denis; but hotels in the area will cost 102% more than 2015 prices (€285 compared to €141).
The average hike for a hotel room is 161%, and aside from the Italy game - Ireland's game will come in just under than that. The Belgium clash in Bordeaux will cost fans a hotel room of €168 more than last year's prices.
There are still rooms available to fans. Because hotel prices in Lille are so high, fans have taken to staying in Paris or Belgium, and travelling in on the day. Trivago themselves recommend the small Belgian town of Kortrijk, just 50km away from Lille for fans - which still has relatively cheap rooms available.
