Yesterday at Alton Towers in Staffordshire, England, two carriages on the 'Smiler' rollercoaster collided leaving a number of people with potentially life changing injuries.
Reaction to the crash was understandably one of shock given the fear that many people have of rollercoasters and, it must be said, it would have been a horrific thing to be involved in.
However, quite a lot of the reaction has now fallen on this tweet from John Ruddy's twitter account.
The Norwich goalkeeper and perennial England squad member quickly received a lot of flack for the tweet before it was deleted. Ruddy then tweeted once again, saying that it wasn't actually him, rather he had been hacked and someone else had sent the original tweet.
Judging by the vast majority of the replies, it seems that pretty much no one believes his denial. The vast majority of opinion seems to be that no one would go to the trouble of tweeting what amounts to a bad joke. However, perhaps that is the beauty of it.
It was rational enough for everyone to assume it did come from Ruddy and just about offensive enough for him to be embarrassed by it. If he was hacked then whomever the hacker is, they are a psychological genius.
