England's Jill Scott ripped into Germany's Sydney Lohmann during her side's Euro final victory at Wembley.

While the mics did not pick any audio from the exchange, Scott left little to the imagination, and was clearly saying, "f**k off you f*****g p***k."

In fairness to Scott, it was a heated final with a lot at stake.

Euro Final Recap

The feeling before tonight's Euro final was that no matter the result for England, what they had done in the tournament up to then, capturing the hearts and eyes of the nation and inspiring a new generation of footballers, was bigger than any trophy.

Tonight's victory has hammered this truth home with aplomb.

The pre-game atmosphere was special, and put to shame the utter chaos which preceded the men's Euro final in 2020. Over 87,000 record breaking spectators made their way to Wembley, all of whom were part of an historic day for both women's football and women's sport in general.

England started off the stronger of the two sides and had the first major chance of the game after just four minutes when and unmarked Fran Kirby fired a close range header straight at keeper Merle Frohms.

While England were on top for much of the first half, they were lucky not to go a goal down after 26 minutes, when a pinball like goal-mouth scramble was somehow cleaned up by keeper Mary Earps. VAR was then asked to review a potential handball but deemed it accidental.

England would get the break-through in the second-half when Ella Toone got on the end of a beautiful through pass from Keira Walsh, before producing a brilliant chipped finish over Frohms.

Like Italy in the men's Euro final, Germany pressed and pressed, and nearly equalised when Lina Magull fired against the corssbar. Lina Magull would then have her just rewards soon, producing a neat finish past Earps, after latching onto a Tabea Wassmuth cross.

Extra-time ensued, and the two top-class sides were evenly matched but for a scrappy goal from Chloe Kelly after a goal mouth scramble.

Initially Kelly thought that the referee had disallowed her goal, but soon realised it had been awarded, and duly celebrated by running towards the rapturous home crowd, swinging her jersey in the air (for which she was awarded a yellow card).

It was a tense finish, but the Lionesses held out.
