Tottenham Hotspur have granted striker Emmanuel Adebayor permission to miss training, as well as Spurs' final league game of the season, in order to return to Togo in an attempt to resolve a number of family issues.

Adebayor has been in the news recently after turning to Facebook to publish a series of bizarre stories about the trouble and strife that his family members have caused him.

Firstly, he revealed that his mother will no longer speak to him after demanding his family members be paid a weekly wage, his sister rented out his private holiday home, and his brother stole dozens of mobile phones after the former Arsenal and Man City striker paid to put him in a prestigious French football academy.

Then, he described how his brother had previously held a knife to his throat, and that he had contemplated suicide due to the severity of his family problems.

Upon reading the passages on Adebayor's Facebook page, Spurs have decided to allow their player to return home in the hopes that he can begin next season in the right frame of mind, be that for Tottenham or a different club.
