Should have been Ireland manager Terry Venables spoke with Spanish rag AS yesterday about the differences between Messi and CR9. You'd expect a hilarious quote like this from a Spambot called El Tel, not the real deal.

While Cristiano is an athlete, Messi is fast, smart, cunning. For me, he’s a character out of a Charles Dickens novel. He’s Oliver Twist. An innocent little guy that arrives at Victoria Station and picks the pockets of all those who think they are important without them noticing and who has a great group of ‘thieves’ working by his side.

Messi was at his most Dickensian last evening, as Barca pickpocketed a victory v Athletic Bilbao.
