Uruguay are expected to go far in the 2015 Copa America, and PSG striker Edinson Cavani is the man tasked with providing the goals in the absence of Barcelona's Luis Suarez.
If he is to perform to the best of his ability for his country, you would think that his tournament preparation would have to be spot on, and unfortunately for Edinson, he has been the laughing stock of the internet today having displayed a shocking lack of geographical knowledge, even for a professional footballer.
When asked what he thought about his upcoming opponents Jamaica, who have been invited to compete in this year's Copa America, Cavani said:
As any other African team, Jamaica are going to be strong.
Which has been flying about the internet ever since and will most likely be remembered for some time in order to support the "stupid footballer" stereotype.
But now Cavani has issued an apology to the people of Jamaica:
