The Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea are to appoint Guus Hiddink interim manager until the end of the season.

Hiddink has served as Chelsea manager before, taking over from Luis Felipe Scolari halfway through the 2008-09 season.

Chelsea performed brilliantly under Hiddink, losing only one Premier League game to Spurs. They won the FA Cup and were beaten by Barcelona in the Champions League in rather controversial circumstances.

The most vivid moment of his reign was his attempt to prevent Didier Drogba screaming 'it's a fuckin' disgrace' into the camera following the game.

Chelsea have a knack of performing well with an interim manager in charge. Their record under Hiddink was superb and Roberto Di Matteo led them to the Champions League title in 2012. Even the much derided Avram Grant brought them to the European Cup Final in 2008 and to within two points of Manchester United in the Premier League title race.
