Eamonn Holmes, the Belfast-born Sky News presenter, and Alex Ferguson are good buds. The two recently teamed up for a celebrity edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Host of Sirius XM's Beyond the Pitch radio show Pilib de Brún interviewed Holmes today and got a few interesting bits from a conversation which the Irishman had with Fergie.

The former manager will again have a say in who the next man in charge at Old Trafford will be.

It would seem that Ryan Giggs is viewed as the long-term option by the club with him being taken under the wing of a more experienced manager in the short-term. The 62-year-old Louis van Gaal would fit that perfectly.

Also, Ferguson would like to get Sky Sports analyst and England coach Gary Neville back at the club.

Fergie also seemed to attempt to assuage the blame placed on him for the appointment of David Moyes.

The podcast will be available on the Beyond the Pitch website tomorrow.
