"Class ridden dump" is about the most complimentary thing Eamon says about Ireland in an interview with the Irish Post.
Dunphy professes his love for the Queen and declares himself to be an Anglophile. He also says that English pubs are , unlike Irish pubs, "quite lovely with a beautiful atmosphere."
Much of the interview is given over to an attack on the corruption of official Ireland and the poor quality of journalism in Ireland.
The reporter asked him the obvious question and whether he regretted his rush of blood to the head in returning home to bring European glory to Shamrock Rovers in 1977.
Asked about his proudest achievement, he instanced the Last Word on Today FM, where they managed to take on RTE in the drivetime slot. Dunphy then remarks that he both worked and played hard and gained a bit of a reputation as the "Keith Richards of Irish radio."
