Eamon Dunphy is not a fan of Roddy Doyle, as he told interviewer Joe Jackson back in 1996.
Roy Keane's old ghostwriter attacked Roy Keane's new ghostwriter, taking issue with Doyle's often negative portrayal of working class Dubliners, particularly the monstrously charmless Charlo Spencer of 'Family' fame. To be fair, the comments were made before either of them had established any working relationship with Roy Keane.
It should be said that Dunphy's literary credentials might have taken a hit from his declaration, back in 1995, that Seamus Heaney was "a mediocre poet."
