One of the most infuriating things about FIFA games is the lack of a pre-loaded World Cup format, but this will no longer be a problem with the news that EA sports have announced they are issuing a World Cup update to FIFA 18.
Previously the company has released a separate World Cup game, but this release means that owners of FIFA 18 will be able to avail of the expansion free of charge.
The update will include all 32 teams competing this summer in Russia. EA will also be adding 12 official stadiums from Russia, the official match ball, the trophy, additional cinematic scenes as well as added commentary.
There will also be the option to play FIFA Ultimate Team in World Cup mode where you can build a squad of international all stars as well as FIFA World Cup™ ICONS including Diego Maradona and Pélé.
The World Cup expansion will offer a "revised chemistry system" based around "dynamic player items related to the real-world tournament.
It's unclear if there will be any kind of offline World Cup campaign, though — the publisher has only confirmed online friendlies and tournaments, as well as custom tournaments for nations that didn't make it to Russia... #coybig.
The gaming franchise will also be releasing a limited-time World Cup mode for the smartphone-friendly FIFA Mobile app on the 6th of June.
