Southampton were in the Netherlands in preparation for the start of the Premier League season. They won all three of their games against Dutch opposition.
The latest of those was a 1-0 win against FC Groningen on Saturday.
Following Euro 2016, Shane Long returned to training for Southampton on July 20th. So, he had to wait until Saturday for his first appearance of the pre-season. Long lasted 45 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by goal scorer Charlie Austin.
During the game, Long had one particularly vocal fan in the stands. A young Dutch supporter who presumably spent much of Euro 2016 on social media listening to Irish fans.
Such was the enthusiasm of his rendition of 'Shane Long's on Fire', Fox TV were forced to move their sideline microphone. Their evasive action proved futile.

He definitely deserves to be a mascot at some point this season.
