Add to the litany of James McClean's social media sins the following: admitting to liking the Wolfe Tones. A pretty harmless tweet stating that IRA anthem 'Broad Black Brimmer' is his favourite Wolfe Tones song has incited the press release-writing rage of Waterside native Gregory Campbell MP, who scolded the Ireland winger for his musical taste.
Via the Belfast Telegraph, Campbell said-
“As someone playing football at a professional level for Sunderland, McClean should be an example to young people.”
“It is obviously up to his manager... to decide what course of action to take now.
“Three simple words should suffice — stick to football. If he doesn't heed this then a final three words should be given — pack your bags.”
Maybe Campbell doesn't like acoustic-to-electric transitions mid-song? Or perhaps he's just Celtic Symphony man.
Wait until he sees McClean and Dave Meyler on stage with the Wolfe Tones in April.
So it's agreed @mcclean23 and I will be performing with the @wolfetones in April, can't wait no video recording haha!
