Two goals by Cristiano Ronaldo might well have put paid to Bayern Munich's Champions League campaign this season, but they certainly threw a spanner in the works in RTÉ's football studio.
Speaking on RTÉ after Ronaldo's brace led Madrid to a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena, Eamon Dunphy admitted they were two costly goals to his pre-prepared 'Ronaldo is finished' analysis package.
After the 32-year-old footballing great had lost possession on a number of occasions in the first half, Dunphy had laid groundwork for a eulogy of some description. Ronaldo, however, not for the first time in his career, proved the RTÉ pundit wrong as he dragged his side over the line against 10-man Bayern.

It's daft to think that Ronaldo's 37 goals and 11 assists for club and country since the Euros probably does indicate he's past his extraordinary best, but his two goals tonight also saw him become the first player to ever score 100 goals in UEFA competitions, and one would assume plenty more records will tumble before the great man steps away in a few years' time.
