Barcelona seemed to confirm that they had given Lionel Messi and 16 other first team players extra time off this summer -which meant that the great one wouldn't be travelling to Dublin for the friendly against Celtic next Saturday.
But, the Argentine himself has had other ideas. Barcelona confirmed yesterday that the reigning World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi has cut his holiday short and will join the club on their travels.

Messi will begin pre-season training on Monday with the Barcelona squad on Monday, but there is no confirmation if this means he will be able to play in Dublin after only a week's training. What it does hint at though is that Messi could be in attendance at Lansdowne Road for the game.
Did Messi see all of the Irish fans' outrage and decided he wanted to be there after all? Or maybe he remembers the atmosphere in Celtic Park and wants to play against the Scottish champions again. Who knows, but there will be a few relieved fans this morning.
