After the lunchtime news that rocked Liverpool with defender Mamadou Sakho may have failed a drugs test in a Europa League tie with Manchester United, Liverpool immediately released a statement suspending the player.
But given that it was in a competition where Sakho has been an influential player for the Reds, and they have knocked out two teams from the tournament since the test. Surely those two teams have reasonable arguments for being upset that they were knocked out.
In an unusually gracious move, a Dortmund Sporting Director has pre-empted any punishment to Sakho by saying that there will be no protest from the German club. They put their exit from the competition down to themselves, and nothing to do with Sakho.
Dortmund Sport Director says club will not lodge protest re: Sakho/possible doping. "That we're out, is down to us." https://t.co/GXDc3sg3gZ

That's quite a gesture from Dortmund, and the love-in between the clubs continues.
