Donegal may be more closely associated with other sports, but there is no doubt that they have had quite the impact on Irish football down through the years.
Packie Bonner, Shay Given, and Seamus Coleman are some of the footballers to emerge from the county that have gone on to become key contributors for the Republic of Ireland over the last few decades. As well as that, Finn Harps have consistently punched above their weight in the League of Ireland.
Donegal also has a thriving local football scene, something we were given a glimpse at via an unlikely source in recent days.
Donegal football club star in Swedish documentary series
You would not expect a Swedish broadcaster to be interested in a random Donegal football club, meaning we were surprised to see that Dunlewey Celtic were the subject of a documentary in the country.
Based in Glentoran in the Gaeltacht region of Donegal, they are a club with plenty of character. That shone through in the clip from the first episode of Leriga Rötter, a new series on Sweden's Discovery+ released last week.
With a title roughly translated as 'Muddy Roots', Leriga Rötter is a docuseries that focusses on local football teams all over Europe.
The first episode was based around Dunlewey Celtic, with the clip released to promote the show one of the most enjoyable/hilarious things we have seen in quite some time.

We're big fans of this Swedish documentary on a Donegal football club from the Gaeltacht region in the county, featuring some choice language 🤣pic.twitter.com/MiMXNCIi9E

Plenty of choice language and questionable football in present in that footage.
Discovery+ summarise the episode as:
Way up in the north-west of Ireland there is a football team that is a real family. They even speak a language none of their opponents understand.
As pointed out by Donegal GAA legend Eamon McGee, you might also spot a familiar face in the form of his brother and All-Ireland winner Neil McGee. It's fair to say that he was not impressed with some aspects of his performance in the clip.
Theres an all Ireland winner taking two throw ins and it looks like he never touched a soccer ball in his life.

With a half-hour long episode dedicated to the Donegal club, it is certainly well worth a watch.
