Croatia centre back Domagoj Vida could be in trouble with FIFA again, after another clip of the player emerged saying 'Glory to Ukraine', a slogan of anti-Russian Ukrainian nationalists.
The 29-year-old has already got away with an initial video which shows the defender saying the phrase alongside Croatia coach Ognjen Vukojevic. Vukojevic has since been sacked for his part in the initial video, the Croatian football federation releasing a statement confirming the coach had been sent home:
The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has decided to revoke Vukojevic's team accreditation at the FIFA World Cup and to relieve him of his duties as an observer for the Croatian national team.
HNS hereby apologizes to the Russian public for the actions of a member of the Croatian delegation. Ognjen Vukojevic and Domagoj Vida likewise apologize for their statements, which were in no way intended to have political connotations, yet which unfortunately left room for such interpretations.
Here is the initial video:
Here is the second video, in which Vida appears alongside assistant coach Ivica Olic:
In the video the Besiktas defender is heard saying 'Let's go to the bar, I pay when I come. Glory to Ukraine, Belgrade is burning, let's go.'
Vida received a warning from FIFA for the first video and the organisation is said to be 'looking into' the second clip, but with both clips appearing to have been filmed within hours of one another -following Croatia's penalty shootout victory against Russia- you would imagine that FIFA will show some clemency ahead of Croatia's semi-final against England tomorrow.
